Birthday Scratch Cards | The Pretty Blog
If you’re like me, you love giving gifts but aren’t the best at remembering people’s birthdays (I’m really terrible at it - I think I need to make a new year’s resolution!). having some scratch cards like these on hand are perfect. Make them up with different gifts, like ‘dinner is on me’ or ‘night out of the movies + your favourite snack’ or even ‘wash your dog’. Be creative and fun and make it fit your giftee. Then print out one of the many amazing free birthday cards linked here on S+T and they’ll never know you only found out it was their birthday because of Facebook!

DIY Delicate Double Chain Ring Tutorial from My Little Secrets here. I really like this tutorial because it uses wire hoops with loops on the end that come in a package - making this a very easy and cheap DIY.

Lash and Brow Serum
After washing your face and applying all your anti-wrinkle goodies, it’s time to apply the Castor oil to your lashes. I discovered an empty mascara tool at a beauty supply store and it works perfectly! (You can use your finger or Q-tip as well. However, this makes for easy and perfect application). If using the empty mascara tube, simply pour your Castor oil into the bottle. Using this tiny funnel from a craft store makes for easy clean up and no spillage.
Gently apply the Castor oil soaked mascara wand to the tips of your brows like you normally would an eyebrow gel.
Then dip the wand back in the tube to load it back up with more product and apply it to your lashes like you would with mascara. Unfortunately, your eye lashes don’t have chia pet qualities, and will take a few weeks with consistent use of the castor oil to see some results. Don’t fret, you are conditioning your lashes and making them healthy and strong!

birdwillbirdwont:

A sweet little DIY for expecting mommies. I’ve found that as I’m getting older I’m getting invited to more and more ‘adult’ things like bridal and baby showers. I’m going to a baby shower this weekend and wanted to make something special for the mommy to be. There’s always a million gifts for baby but what about mama!?

I came across this idea on Pinterest and loved it as it’s so easy and can be customized to meet the mama’s needs/your price range.

In mine I included:

  • Lip Balm (I couldn’t resist getting ‘Baby Lips’ for the occasion) - Hospitals are drying.
  • Reese’s - Some of her favorite candies to snack on.
  • Face Wipes - To stay looking fresh and glowing.
  • Hand Sanitizer - For when holding the little one.
  • Socks - Matching mommy and baby socks for the hospital.
  • Lotion - Again to keep skin smelling pretty and moisturized.

I placed everything neatly in the jar, wrapped a pink bow around it, and then using a cut out for what really would be a scrapbook I labeled and super glued it on.

Other things you could include which I did not are: sugar free mints (sugar is drying), coins for the dad to get a snack, earplugs, travel size shampoo/conditioner, hair ties, etc etc.

Viola! An easy and sweet way to treat a mama! xx

make your own feather hair clip!

the-crafty-cloud:

My first tutorial! I’m so excited!

Feather hair clips are awesome because you can wear them so many ways and they can make a simple braid look so much more exciting. (Not to mention they are the best accessory for a summer festival!)
So, few weeks back I walked into the local Claire’s and saw some really, really amazing hair clips. I realized that one of my friends’ birthday was coming up, and I knew she adored feather hair accessories - but after taking a look at the price tag, I was baffled. So much for something so simple?
Nevertheless, I didn’t give up on my birthday present idea, and then I thought, why not make one for myself? Or, why not make one for myself and make a tutorial about it?!

DIY cloud wall decor

the-crafty-cloud:

This is a project I’ve come up with last August, when I had my room repainted. Some of the clouds were half done by the time I got the idea of starting this blog, that’s why their sizes vary in the pictures (haha). It’s really quite simple! Please note that this is a rather messy project, so I don’t advise doing this right after you’ve vaccuumed the entire house.
Edit: I forgot to add that this project practically cost no money for me, as the styrofoam came from packaging and the oversized tee was, of course, something that I had previously.
